How to remove echo from audio online
Echo, or more precisely reverb, is what you hear when you record in a room with hard, bare surfaces: your voice bounces off the walls, floor and windows and arrives at the mic a second time, a fraction of a second late. That reflected copy piles up under every word and makes the recording sound hollow, distant and tiring to listen to. You can't re-record it, but you can pull the reflections back down. Here's how to reduce echo in your audio with CleanNoise:
- Add your recording. Drag an MP3, WAV, M4A or video file into the tool at the top of this page.
- Let CleanNoise clean it. The AI removes the background noise first and plays back a free preview.
- Switch on “Remove echo / reverb”. This runs the extra de-reverb pass that targets the room reflections. Toggle it on and off to compare.
- Preview free, then download. Compare the original and the de-echoed 30-second preview, then download your clean WAV for $0.99.
Your file is uploaded only to produce the result and is deleted within 24 hours. The 30-second preview is free with no sign-up. For longer files, batch processing and more monthly hours, see CleanNoise Pro.
Why it's easier to remove echo before you record
An AI echo remover is the right fix when the recording already exists and you can't redo it, and it gets you most of the way there. But reverb is far easier to avoid than to remove: recording closer to the mic, in a smaller or soft-furnished room, or with a blanket behind you cuts the reflections at the source and always beats cleaning them up afterwards. When re-recording isn't an option, though, dropping the file in here and switching on the echo pass is the fastest way to get a drier, closer-sounding voice.
